I was recently out to dinner with my 13-year-old daughter. We were greeted at a popular restaurant and seated promptly. Upon ordering our meals complementary water was bought to our table but that’s where it ended!!
Not once were we asked if we would like to order a drink. Feeling very thirsty yet curious to see if they would offer us a drink, I decided to wait….and wait….and wait! Looking around I could see about 18 other people and only 2 of these had a beverage other than the complementary water.
THINK of the lost revenue. If these 18 people all ordered ONE soft drink (let alone a glass of wine!) at say $4.50 a glass, that’s and extra $81. We were there for around 45 minutes. If you look at that $81 dollars over their entire days trade THINK of the hundreds of dollars LOST in add-on sales!
THIS is EASY money people. Your customers come for a meal, they will be thirsty, this is where you make your “cream” it’s a NO BRAINER – value add to the sale!
Offer your customers a drink, upsize them from a cup to a mug, ask if they would like sauce with their pie. This is NOT being a pushy sale person, this is offering the customer an option and putting valuable additional dollars into your pocket.
